Max Templeman

Max A. Templeman, 94, of Anita, Iowa, formerly of Atlantic, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Max Albert Templeman was born on November 21, 1914, in Cass County, Iowa, the son of Frank A. and Ida L.(McConnell) Templeman. He attended country school in Cass County.

On December 14, 1933, he was married to Florence Meta Harris in Atlantic, Iowa. Four sons were born to this union. Together they lived and farmed in Adair and Cass counties. After leaving farming, he worked for the Cass County Bridge and Road crew as a truck driver until retirement. The couple later divorced. In the mid 1980's Max was married to Edith Nicks. The couple lived in Taylor County. Edith passed away in 2001.
Max was a hard working man and did the best he could with what he had. He loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards with Edith. He loved to give people a hard time and it was hard for anyone to resist his award winning smile. Max also enjoyed spending time cruising around Atlantic in his electric scooter. He was a past member of Eagle's Lodge in Maryville, Missouri.

Max is survived by his sons, Charles (Delores) Templeman, Jerry (Verdell) Templeman and Mervin (Jean) Templeman all of Atlantic, Iowa; his grandchildren, Penne (Paul) Campbell, Pamela McNealy, Chuck (Linda) Templemen, Todd Templeman, Vicki Templeman, Tammy (John) Westerling, Lori Templeman, Linda (Norman) Potter, Janet (Doug) Anderson, Robert Templeman, Nick (Dawn) Templeman, and Rebecca Mortimer; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives; his son, Virgil Templeman; his grandson, Ed Templeman; his brother, Glenn Templeman; and his sister, Ethel Freeman.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at Hockenberry Family Care.
