Melvin Snyder

Melvin Eugene Snyder was born on May 18, 1933, the son of Carl William and Mary (Jenkins) Snyder Sr. in Corning, Iowa, and passed away November 15, 2011, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

He grew up in Corning attending the Corning High School. Melvin also resided in Carbon, Iowa, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Anita, Iowa, El Paso, Texas and Atlantic, Iowa, working as a truck driver and mechanic.

He was a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1949 to 1951.

On September 12, 1953, he was married to Beverly Smith in Corning, Iowa. She passed away on October 17, 2004.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents, Carl and Mary Snyder; his step mother, Ida Snyder; his brothers, Ronald "Beanie" Snyder, Darwin Snyder and Kenneth Snyder in infancy; sisters-in-law, Ilene Snyder, Mary Yearington, Maybelle Dueling; brothers-in-law, John Armstrong, Dallas Hickman, Mick Yearington, Paul Swain and Ronald Smith; and nephews Rick Snyder, and Doug Yearington.

Melvin is survived by his children, Michael E. Snyder of Atlantic, Elizabeth (Steven) Lindblom of Anita, granddaughters, Katie (Josh) Ehrman and Kelly Lindblom of Anita; is great grandchildren, Anthony and Alexis Ehrman of Anita; his step-brother, Martin Snyder; his step-sister, Carla (Roger) Sabokta of Lenox; Brother Carl W. (Bonnie) Snyder Jr. of Goldfield; Sister-in-laws, Linda Snyder, Donna Hickman and Phyllis Armstrong all of Corning; other relatives and friends.

A private family burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Quincy Oakland Cemetery, Quincy Township, Adams County, Iowa.
