Michael Ericksen

Michael Allen Ericksen was born January 5, 1983, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the son of Roger Allen and Linda Louise (Kent) Ericksen and passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA.

He was baptized at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. During his childhood, Mike lived in Clarinda, Shenandoah, Des Moines and Atlantic before moving to Lewis, IA in 1998. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 2001.

Mike worked at McDonald's during high school, and later at Kum & Go, Glacier, West Central Fabricators and Iron Specialties. He was currently employed as a dump truck driver for Henningson Construction in Atlantic.

On July 3, 2007, he was married to Teresa Maria Rose Cook in Atlantic, Iowa.

Mike will be remembered as a wonderful father, son, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He was always willing to help others. Mike loved being outdoors riding four wheelers or fishing. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and a Facebook junkie. Other pastimes include wood carving, playing pool, cards, board games and Play Station 2. He also enjoyed watching car races, working on puzzles and collecting football and baseball cards.

He was a past member of the Atlantic Jaycees and of a bowling league. Mike enjoyed the many nicknames he received including, Mr. Clean, Dorito, Big Daddy Woo Woo and Big Kahuna.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Ericksen of Lewis, IA; his children, baby Ericksen, due in 7 months, Miranda Ericksen, his stepson, Tyler Hardisty, and children Trinity and Trey Ericksen, who are in the adoptive care of their grandparents, Roger and Debra Ericksen, all of Lewis, IA; his father, Roger (Debra) Ericksen of Lewis, IA; his mother, Linda Ericksen of Des Moines, IA; his sister, Christina (Gabriel) Salcedo of Des Moines, IA; his grandparents, Eldon and Sandra Ericksen of Lewis, IA and Orville and Thelma Kent of Clarinda, IA; his nieces, Ariana and Angela Salcedo of Des Moines, IA; his step-brothers, Darren Coenen of Lutz, FL, David Coenen and his girlfriend, Jacky Thielen and their daughter, Lexy Coenen of Harlan, IA, and Curtis Miller and his girlfriend, Michelle Stapleton of Lewis, IA; his mother-in law, Debra Sanny and her husband, Rick of Lewis, IA; his brothers-in-law, Christian Sanny of Florida, Shane Sanny of Atlantic, IA and Zeb Sanny of Nevada IA; his grandparents-in-law, Barbara Hughes and Betty Sanny both of Lewis, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Dale Ericksen, and his good friend "Pork Chop".

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, IA.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. also at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, IA.
A benefit for his family will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Atlantic, IA.
