Nadene Mae Peppers, the daughter of Walter and Arlene (Blohm) Hansen was born May 16, 1942, at her parents’ home in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died March 5, 2014, at the Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 19 days. Nadene was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1960. On January 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Russell Leroy Peppers at the Adel Christian Church in Adel, Iowa. Three children: John Bradley, Laurie Marie, and Jeffrey Paul were born to this union. As a young couple Nadene and Russ lived in Exira and Red Oak, Iowa before making their home in Denison, Iowa for nearly 20 years. Nadene was a fulltime homemaker while Russ owned and operated Truck Dealerships in Denison and Burlington, Iowa. In 1985, they moved to Colorado where Nadene was employed by Equitable Financial and the City of Aurora. In 2005, they relocated to Prescott Valley, Arizona. Nadene bravely battled Lupus for nearly 30 years. After receiving a kidney transplant in 2003, she became involved in transplant support groups and raising money and awareness for organ donation, including contributing to the annual Gingerbread House competition and charity. She was involved in various church circles and the YMCA. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and scrapbooking. Nadene’s favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, baking, playing games and attending their school and sporting events. Nadene was preceded in death by her parents; her step father Arthur Christensen; her sister Janice and husband Ron Wellendorf; her brother Gene and wife Helen Hansen; her father in-law Sherman Peppers; her sister-in-law Sherry and husband Reu Eddy; her niece Julie Peppers; as well as her beloved aunt Helen M. Hansen who helped raise her when Walter died. Survivors include her husband of 53 years Russell Peppers of Prescott Valley, Arizona; her children: Brad and wife Ruth Peppers of Cave Creek, Arizona; Laurie Peppers and her partner Timothy Schaeffer both of Phoenix, Arizona; Jeff and wife Nikki Peppers of Rock Springs, Wyoming; her grandchildren: Tara and husband Carson Bradley, Trisha and husband Daniel Price, Katie Bielenberg, Tyler Bielenberg, Andrew Schaeffer, Samantha Peppers, and Chase Peppers; her great grandchildren: Knox Bradley, Everett Bradley, and Lucas Price; her mother-in-law Ruth Peppers of Exira, Iowa; her sister Marilyn and husband Keith Grabill of Audubon, Iowa; her brothers-in-law: Jack and wife Annette Peppers of Exira; Rick Peppers of Las Vegas, Nevada; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as step siblings from the Christensen family.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet friends Wednesday morning at 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
Service:
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa.
