Naomi Maxine Larsen

Naomi Maxine Larsen, the daughter of John Henry and Lula “Peg” Frances (Murray) Wiemann, as born July 31, 1926, at her parents’ home near Exira, Iowa and died July 7, 2015, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 6 days.
Naomi was baptized and confirmed at the First Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural schools then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1943. Naomi then was employed at the Audubon Locker plant wrapping meat.
In 1944, she was united in marriage to Frederick Toft Larsen. Four children Fred Jr., John, Luann, and Susan were born to this union. Naomi worked at the meat locker for a period of time then was employed at Jung’s Bakery for several years. She initiated her own upholstery shop and operated the business for many years. During this time Fred died on December 10, 1991. Naomi ran the upholstery shop for several more years then closed the business and worked for DeLong’s in Exira, Iowa until she retired. During retirement she was involved with the Green Thumb Project and was placed at Community Opportunities until she broke her hip and had to retire. Naomi resided in her own home for a time then has been living at the Friendship Home in Audubon for the past few years.
Naomi was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. She served as a Boy Scout leader for many years, helping her son John attain the rank of Eagle Scout. She was a member of the Audubon Genealogical Society and the Audubon Red Hats. Naomi enjoyed quilting, making crafts of all types and collecting antiques.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Fred; were her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Beverly Wulf, Elaine Nissen, Ardyth Wahlert, Gwen Britton, Jack Wiemann, Frank Wiemann, and Gary Wiemann.
Survivors include her children Fred Larsen Jr. and wife Dixie of Edmund, Montana, John Larsen of Adair, Iowa, Luann and husband Steve Prell of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Susan and husband Gary Santee, Jr. of Audubon, Iowa; her grandchildren Lisa Carnes of Davis, California, Corey and wife Jessica Larsen of Atlantic, Iowa, Tyler and wife Robin Santee of Audubon, Iowa, Bryton Bobenmoyer of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Kelsi Bobenmoyer and her girl friend Emily Eyler of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Tanner Bobenmoyer of Audubon, Iowa, Paige and husband Eli Bintner of Exira, Iowa, and Brittani Santee and fiancé Daniel Selders of Atlantic, Iowa; her great grandchildren Aaron Carnes, Alexa Baracat, Faith Ann Larsen and Gracelyn Kay Larsen; her sister-in-law June Campbell of Audubon, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kathy Kluis on Monday, July 13, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be Daniel Selders, Martin Rustvold, Tom Wiemann, and Tanner Bobenmoyer. The casket bearers will be Corey Larsen, Gary Santee Jr., Tyler Santee, Tim Wahlert, Mark Wahlert, and Eli Bintner. The family will meet with friends Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
