Neil C. Stork, 74, of rural Adair, Iowa, passed away Thursday October 30, 2014, at his home.
Neil C. Stork was born August 15, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa the son of Carl and Lena (Ortner) Stork.
Neil was a member of the last graduating class of Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in Mount Carmel, Iowa, in 1958. After graduation, he worked for Schenkelberg Implement in Carroll. Neil married Lillian Sailer October 20, 1962, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Dension, Iowa. They lived in Bettendorf, Iowa, for one year. Neil worked at Witt Flooring Company in Bettendorf. In 1963, they moved to rural Auburn, Iowa, where he farmed until 1974, at which time they moved to the farm in rural Adair. Most recently, Neil was trucking for Perry Boespflug Trailer and Sales of Dickenson, ND.
Neil was in the National Guard from 1962-1968, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita, Iowa, a past member of the Anita School Board and the Grid Iron Club of Anita.
He loved attending and watching his grandchildren's activities, which included many trips to the state wrestling tournaments. He was a great storyteller and the grandchildren heard his stories so many times they had them memorized! He also loved his horses and his two blue healer dogs.
Surviving Neil are his wife, Lillian of Adair; his children, Julie (David) Williamson of Wiota, IA and their children, Mark, Sarah & fiancé Fernando Navales, Amy (Brad) Humphrey, Matthew and Mitchell; Chris (Kay) Stork of Atlantic, IA and their children, Nathan & friend Andrea Van Scoy, Alex, Tyler and Anna; Keith Stork of Fort Dodge, IA and his friend Leslie Ferguson, and his children, Levi, Derek and Zac; Joni (Rob) Robey of Council Bluffs, IA and their children, Jared (Lindsay) and their child, Gavin, Jade Knutson and her fiancé Stephen Day; and Craig (Joni) Stork of Harlan, IA and their children, Cale, Trenna, Kami and Kenli; sisters, Marian (Roger) Otto of Glenwood, IA, Jean Pudenz and Lois Schreck both of Des Moines, IA; a brother, Mark Stork of Claremore, OK; brothers-in-law, Paul (Agatha) Sailer of Bagley, IA, Lenny (Mary) Sailer of Manning, IA and Richard Sailer of Schleswig, IA; sisters-in-law, Loretta Bernholtz of Carroll, IA and Charlene Stork of Glidden, IA; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loras Stork; a sister, Janice (Jim) Hoffman; parents-in-law, Frank and Anna Sailer; in-laws, Roy Pudenz, Robert Schreck, Clarence Sailer and Merle Bernholtz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time.
Visitation with family will be from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with burial in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, all in Atlantic.
Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
