Norma J. Worster

April 20, 1926 — April 24, 2012

Norma Jeanette Worster, the daughter of Jens C. and Carrie Jensen Bruun, was born April 20, 1926, at her parents’ home in Audubon County, Iowa and died April 24, 2012, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 86 years and 4 days. Norma was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. She attended rural school in Audubon County and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1944. Norma was employed by her Uncle John Bruun at the Farmer’s Produce in Audubon for a short time. On August 31, 1947, she was united in marriage to Paul C. Worster at Paul’s family cottage at Lake Okoboji, Iowa. Three children Paula, Stan and Kent were born to this union. Norma and Paul lived in Audubon and she was a homemaker while the children were young. Norma then was employed as a clerk at Jensen’s Clothing in Audubon for many years. Later she worked at the Clerk of Court Office and then the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Audubon County Court House until she retired. During retirement Norma and Paul traveled extensively in their motor home across the United States, Canada, and Mexico for many years. Paul died May 11, 2001. Norma spent many hours with her family and especially her grandchildren. Norma was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 50 year member of P.E.O., Chapter B.J. and had served as president. She liked to read, garden, and spending time with her friends over a cup of coffee. She loved to fish in Minnesota, Lake Michigan, and Florida and enjoyed playing Bridge. Norma enjoyed cooking and could effortlessly prepare a delicious meal. Norma loved her grandchildren very much and looked forward to their weekly Thursday night dinners together. She was a loyal friend to many and happiest when she was tending to the needs of others. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Paul C Worster; her sons Stan C. Worster and Kent J. Worster; her parents; her step-father Lavern Cook; and her sister Bernice and husband Eldon Adams.
