Norma June Campbell, the daughter of Carsten and Anna (Toft) Larsen, was born June 6, 1927, at her parents’ home in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died January 30, 2017, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 24 days.
June was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa and later as an adult was baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural school in Sharon Township and then helped at home and worked for neighboring families.
On November 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Arthur James Campbell in Exira, Iowa. They were blessed with three children James Dale, Connie Lee, and Rose Mary. June was a homemaker until all the children were of school age. She then worked for several produces where she graded eggs. June then assisted Art driving refrigerated trucks to the west coast for many years. She worked in the laundry department at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa and later worked at Delong’s in Exira, Iowa until she retired. Art died on July 3, 2001. June lived at home until she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in 2012.
June was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. She enjoyed visiting the casinos and shops. When she moved to the Friendship Home she enjoyed participating in the many activities. But most of all she enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her husband Arthur J. Campbell; her parents; her brother Fred and wife Naomi Larsen her sister Marie and husband Harvey Sorensen; her sister-in-law Rosie and husband Harold Johnson; and her brother-in-law Dean Hollister.
Survivors include her children Jim and wife LaVonne Campbell; Connie Rustvold and Rose Mary and husband Kenny Hess all of Audubon, Iowa, her grandchildren; Jason and wife Amy Campbell of Midlothian, Virginia; Chad Rustvold of Shreveport, Louisiana Becky and husband Tim Mobley, Carrie and husband Brian Schwab, and Kevin Simms and special friend Jenny Fox all of Audubon, Iowa, and Gretchen Simms of Des Moines, Iowa; 14 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Mary Hollister of Audubon, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted by Father Antony Mathew on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Inurnment will be in St Patrick’s Cemetery south of Audubon, Iowa at a later date. The honorary casket bearers will be her great-grandchildren: Martin Rustvold, Katrina Williamson, Shelby Smith, Elijah Rustvold, Noah Rustvold, Aliyah Rustvold, Brianna Schwab, Carissa Schwab, Todd Schwab, Samantha Wilson, Nathan Campbell, McKenzie Campbell, Holden Campbell and Khloe Rose Simms. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
