Norma Larsen

Norma Jean Larsen, 76, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Jeanie was born to Nellie and Floyd Chambers on a farm in rural Adair County on March 25, 1934. She graduated from the Casey Community School in 1951 and moved to Omaha Nebraska, to attend secretarial school. She then worked for several businesses in the Des Moines area.


She was united in marriage to Marvin Larsen on November 21, 1954, at the Casey United Methodist Church. Jeanie followed Marvin during his military service and worked for the Army at several jobs during this time. After that, she and Marvin moved back to Casey where she lived the rest of her life.


Jeanie was involved in many church, school and community activities during her many years in Casey. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Mill and Elevator, the Telephone Company, and was Co-Owner and Manager of Victor Awning.


Jeanie was the third of five children, Ruth of Hiawatha IA, Maxine of Flagstaff AZ, (Jeanie), Jack (deceased) and Bruce of Cedar Rapids, IA.


She is survived by her children, David Larsen and his wife, Lynda and their daughter Nikkie of Aurora CO, Mark Larsen and his wife, Janna and their children, Erik and Kirsten of League City, TX, Ryan Gleave of Mesa AZ, and Corry Gleave of Cedar City, UT.
She also leaves behind a large extended family and many life-long friends.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Casey, IA. Visitation with family will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church, 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Dalmanutha Cemetery.


Jean's family wishes to express their gratitude for all the acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow, and invites you to share in a lunch in the fellowship hall at the United Methodist Church in Casey following the cemetery service.
