Orlynn Helen McKibbin, the daughter of Roy and Hazel Marie (Hensley) Anciaux, was born December 1, 1916, at her parents’ home in Greeley Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died November 3, 2014, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 2 days.
Orlynn was baptized as a Christian. She attended rural schools in Greeley Township and then graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1934. Orlynn taught rural schools for a few years before she moved to Omaha, Nebraska and attended the Immanuel Lutheran School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Orlynn then worked as a nurse in the Omaha area for several years.
On August 19, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joe Dial McKibbin in Oklahoma. Three children Paula, Linda, and Noel were born to this union. They lived in Duke, Oklahoma and Orlynn worked as a nurse. After a number of years, they moved to Exira and lived on and operated the Anciaux family farm. During this time Orlynn was a home maker raising the children and helping Joe farm. When the children reached school age Orlynn returned to her nursing career first working at the Manning Hospital in Manning, Iowa for several years then transferring to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa. Joe died in 1967. Orlynn lived on the farm until she moved into Audubon in 1969. She continued to work at the hospital until she retired. During retirement Orlynn was an avid volunteer. She was involved in many activities of the community including helping with caring and sharing, congregate meals, assisting with the blood mobile, and at the hospital, and helping at the Friendship Home. In 1991, she received the Governor’s Volunteer Award for the many activities she had been involved with.
Orlynn was an active member of the Exira Christian Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, helping with Sunday school, and being a member of the Christian Women Fellowship. Orlynn enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished cook specializing in baking bread and cinnamon rolls. During the Christmas holiday she could be seen delivering delicious baked goods to all the local businesses.
Orlynn was preceded in death in addition to her husband Joe by her parents; her son-in-law Richard William Mannillo; her granddaughter-in-law Lee Mannillo; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Joyce Anciaux, Marie and husband Vinson Smith, Clay and wife Lee McKibbin, Violet and husband Otis Bassell, and Josie and husband John Moore.
Survivors include her children Paula Mannillo of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Linda and husband Tom Anderson of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Noel and wife Vicki McKibbin of Adel, Iowa; her grandchildren and great grandchildren Lynn Marie and husband Chris Anderson and their children Colvin, Nova , and Violet of Green Bay, Rya and husband Tim Putney of Kaleva, Michigan, Richard Paul Mannillo and sons Van William and Nicholas Paul of Pocasset, Massachusetts, Steffanie Sanders and husband Tim Roets and their children Jackson Sanders, Isabell Sanders, Dylan Roets, and P.J. Roets of Chaska, Minnesota, Chris and wife Natalie Anderson and their children Madalyn and Owen of Elk River, Minnesota, Tim and wife Jennifer Anderson and daughter Makaila Winward of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Danielle and husband Jim Steinberg and daughters McKyla, Tinley, Guiliana, and Jasmine of Adel and Blake and wife Bethany McKibbin and son Louis of Houston, Texas; her brother Bill Anciaux of Exira, Iowa, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
