Orville Kenneth Hansen

Orville Kenneth Hansen, the son of Nels George and Ida Hemmingsen Hansen, was born May 12, 1926, at his parents home near Scranton, Iowa and died March 19, 2009, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 7 days.
Orville was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon. He attended rural school in Douglas Township, Audubon County, Iowa, then graduated from Audubon High School.
On August 13, 1947, he was united in marriage to Ruth Jean Petersen at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Iowa. They farmed north of Audubon for seven years and later purchased and operated a farm west of Audubon. They farmed until 1971 when Orville retired from farming. He drove a bulk milk truck for a short time. He was employed by A & G Farm Service where he sold seed and feed for several years. Orville then worked as a custodian at the Friendship Home in Audubon for over ten years until he retired. Orville enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing Dart ball, fishing, playing cards, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. Ruth Jean died suddenly on June 23, 2004. Orville enjoyed his home until he moved into the Friendship Home in September of 2006.
Orville was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon where he served on the Church Board and served as president.
Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were his sons: Lee Orville Hansen and Don Norman Hansen; his parents; his sister Ruth Ann Campbell; his brother Virgil Hansen; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Vernon and Alice Petersen and Leland Smidt.
Survivors include his children: Ann and Jim Chambers of Grinnell, IA; Max and Jennifer Hansen of Breda, IA; his daughter-in-law Annie Hansen of Tennessee; his grandchildren: Chris and Abby Chambers of Norwalk, IA; Kyle and Erin Chambers of Des Moines, IA; Amy Chambers of Omaha, NE; Jordan Hansen of Kellar, TX; his great-grandchildren: Drew Chambers and Megan Chambers, both of Norwalk, IA; Addison Chambers of Des Moines, IA; his sister-in-law Gladys Hansen of Audubon; his brothers-in-law Calvin Campbell of Perry, IA; Eunice and James Kemp of Atlantic, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Monday evening at 6:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Paul Sorlien on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church west of Audubon, IA.
