Patricia Brownsberger

Patricia Ann Hockom Brownsberger, 68, of Atlantic, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2013, following a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of Clyde and Pauline Hockom, Pat was born February 11, 1945, in Atlantic, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1963. Pat was united in marriage to A. Paul Brownsberger on July 17, 1965, in the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Pat earned her B.A. in Professional Studies from Bellevue University in 1990. When she retired in 2003, Pat had worked for Cass County Memorial Hospital for nearly 30 years.

Pat enjoyed spending time with her three boys and their children, traveling with Paul, and shopping trips with girlfriends. Those who knew and loved Pat know she loved with her whole heart and didn't hold back when it came to showing her love. Pat was a faithful Christian, wonderful dancer and talented seamstress. Above all, she devoted her life to caring for her family.

Pat is survived by her husband, Paul of Atlantic; her son, Mike of Marion, Iowa, and his three children, Nathan, Noah and Olivia; her son, Don of Atlantic and his son, Zane; her son, Scott and his wife, Ann of North Liberty, Iowa, and their three children, Alison, Leah and Ian; many brothers-in-law and sisters in-law; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and her three brothers, Robert, Eugene and Joseph Hockom.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.


Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2013, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. Committal services will be held immediately at the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Hockenberry Family Care following the committal service.


In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the Pat Brownsberger Memorial Fund at the Nishna Valley Credit Union in Atlantic.
