Patricia Rae Schwartz, 83, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Pat was born August 5, 1933, to Raymond and Maxine (Beck) Roan in Quincy, Illinois. She grew up in California, graduating from high school in Vista, California, in 1952. She lived in the Van Nuys, California, area for many years. Pat was married to Robert Schwartz in Reno, Nevada, on October 28, 1977. Pat and Robert lived in Grants Pass, Oregon, for more than 25 years before moving to Atlantic in 2000.

Pat loved dogs. She showed Great Pyrenees at American Kennel Club dog shows for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in 2008; and her brother-in-law, Norman Henriksen.

Pat is survived by a brother, Ray Roan; a daughter, Karen Berger Dooley; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Henriksen; nieces and nephew and their families, Marcia and Dave Buboltz, Jon Henriksen, Mary Henriksen and Alan Hanson; and many cousins and dear friends.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m., in the new Heritage Hall at the Heritage House in Atlantic. Lunch will be served.

Pat was cremated and a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be left to the Atlantic Animal Shelter.
