Patrick Arthur Timmerman

Patrick Arthur Timmerman, the son of John and Anne (Nollette) Lolley, was born August 10, 1930, in Valentine, Nebraska and died January 26, 2016, at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 16 days. Patrick’s mother died when he was an infant and he was adopted by Joseph and Frances Timmerman.
Patrick was baptized and confirmed at the Catholic Church in Stuart, Nebraska. He attended the parochial school in Stuart through the 8th grade then was employed as a ranch hand. Several years later he became a “Cowboy”. He followed the Rodeo circuit riding bareback horses, bulls and filling in part time as a clown. After several years and many bumps and bruises he started trucking.
On September 7, 1968 he was united in marriage to Bette Meighan in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Bette had seven children and they all welcomed Patrick into their home. Patrick was an over the road trucker and was employed by Werner Enterprise. He hauled all types of freight from the east coast to the west coast and back for many years until he retired from driving. He then worked part time in the shop for Mayflower Trucking. In June of 2005 they moved to Exira, Iowa. Patrick enjoyed their home then moved to the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa due to his failing health on November 3, 2010.
Patrick loved trucking and traveling across the United States. During retirement he enjoyed working in his shop where he scraped out motors and sold the parts to the junkyard. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Patrick was preceded in death step daughter Connie Meighan; his step grandson Shane Swanson; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife Bette Timmerman of Exira, Iowa; his step-children Colleen and husband Steve Swanson of Rembrandt, Iowa, Mike Meighan of Exira, Iowa, Steve and wife Joyce Meighan of Pensacola, Florida, Collette Kepthart of Portland Oregon, Catherine Meighan of Columbia, South Carolina, and Patrick Arthur Meighan of Omaha, Nebraska; numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at a later date.
