Paul E Ludwig

Paul Eugene Ludwig was born on June 20, 1935 on his grandfather Laidley’s family farm near Monteith, Iowa. His parents were Ellsworth and Leona (Laidley) Ludwig. He graduated from Casey High School in 1953.

Paul was married to Mary Ann Farley on April 28, 1956 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adair. He worked with Betts and Beer Construction in Adair prior to starting with the Iowa Department of Transportation in Casey in 1960.He retired after thirty-five years of service in 1994 as the supervisor in Adair.

Paul was active in his community, serving the Casey Fire Department for twenty years. He served on the Casey City Council and with the Boy Scouts as both a troop leader and Neighborhood Commissioner.

Paul and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and spent time in Branson, Missouri and Rio Hondo, Texas.

Paul’s greatest joy was being with his family and attending numerous events involving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Ludwig of Casey; son Stephen (Kathy) of Maryville, Missouri, daughter Lori Ohms (Gary) of Anita, and daughter Diane Scholl (Joe) of Casey; grandchildren Nathan (Katie), Matthew (Carrie) and Travis (Chabree) Ohms, Nicole (Jordan) Inman, Amy (Bobby) Tull, Mark (Brittany) Ludwig, Chelsea (Kyle) Coffman, Alex (Melinda) Buckner; great-grandchildren Chloe, Camden, Connor, Leah, Eden, Jase, Noah, Ryker, Addison and Isaiah Ohms, Braxton Inman, Lily, Ava and Piper Tull, Laken Coffman, and Haidyn, Ruger and Brynlee Buckner; Sister-in law Mary Lou Ludwig; brother-in law John(Lola) Farley and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dennis Ludwig; sister Beverly McPhee and brothers-in law Walter McPhee and Tom Farley; nephew Keith McPhee.
Paul went to his new home on Friday, May 17, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. John's Catholic Church in Adair, with Father Antony Mathew as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Casey.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family for future designation and may be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 523 Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
