Pauline Nellie Edwards, 89, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Anita. Pauline was born September 11, 1922, near Lyman, Iowa, to Ross Edward Havens and Nellie (Johnson) Havens. She graduated with the class of 1941 from the Atlantic High School. She worked in Atlantic during the war years, including assistant manager of Scotts store.
Her marriage to Edward G. Randolph took place February 9, 1953. They lived most of their lives in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked and retired from Mercantile Bank after 24 years. Her marriage to Louis D. (Bus) Edward took place at the Little Brown Church on May 20, 1978.
During her life in Cumberland, she worked with her husband in the garage business. She was active in The Federated Garden Club (President), Cumberland Centennial Committee (Treasurer), on the building committee for the Community Center, Community Booster (Treasurer), Ladies Fire Auxiliary, the Cumberland Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, and the Does of Atlantic.
She enjoyed camping, dancing and playing cards. She loved her time spent with her friends and 12 nieces and nephews. She loved hunting for items to fill her collections, one being recipes (Pauline's Rhubarb Cookbook published in 2002).
She is survived by stepsons, Donald (Wanda) Randoph of Kansas City, MO, Dale (Glenda) Edwards of Guthrie Center, IA, Donald (Linda) Edwards of Massena, IA; plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Margery Bates of Underwood, IA; and her brothers, Donald Havens of Anita, IA and Lawrence (Kathy) Havens of Wiota, IA
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; stepdaughter, Henriette Randolph Reed; and stepson, Steven Edwards.
The family requests memorials to the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department or the Cumberland Community Building in lieu of flowers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 3rd, at Greenwood Cemetery near Cumberland, Iowa.
Family will greet friends at the Cumberland Community Building for lunch and fellowship following the committal service.
