Pauline M. Harris, 77, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Pauline Marie Harris was born March 23, 1929 in Section 1 of Lincoln Township, Cass County, Iowa, the daughter of Howard S. and Phyllis J. (Steele) Gissibl.
She graduated from the Anita High School in 1946 and taught school until 1948. After teaching, Pauline was a dedicated farmer's wife and mother.
On August 24, 1947, Pauline married Byron C Harris in the Anita Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Anita United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Society. Pauline was also a member of the Sew-A-Bit Club.
Pauline was an excellent cook and her doors were always open. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, visiting and playing cards.
She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Harris and his wife, Rita of Arvada, Colorado and Donald Harris and his wife, Linda of Anita, Iowa; her daughter, Wanda Buer and her husband, Jeff of Norwalk, Iowa; her grandchildren, Brian Harris and his wife, Aparna of Firestone, Colorado, Dan Harris of Golden, Colorado, Mark Harris and his wife, Michelle of Anita, Iowa, Marne Harris and her fiancé, David Sirfus of Earlham, Iowa, Eric Buer of Olatha, Kansas, Ryan Buer of Norwalk, Iowa, Lisa Buer of Chicago, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, India, Gavin, Matthew, Mercedes, Marshall, Emma, and Josh. She is also survived by a sister Jo Petersen and her husband, Chris of Norwalk, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Leona Harris of Lubbock, Texas.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Byron; her parents, Howard and Phyllis Gissibl; and a brother-in-law, Myron Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Anita United Methodist Church with the Reverend David Kruse officiating.
Public visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, with the family present to greet friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Anita.
Committal Services and Interment will take place in the Massena Cemetery, North of Massena, followed by fellowship and lunch in the fellowship hall of the Anita United Methodist Church.
Pauline was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
The family is requesting that memorials go to the Anita United Methodist Church's Kitchen Remodeling Fund in Pauline's memory and honor.
Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Anita is handling the arrangements.
