Pearl Margaret Alt

Pearl Margaret Alt, the daughter of Homer Floyd and Metta Mary Petersen Elsberry, was born March 16, 1919 at her parents home near Gray, Iowa and died July 9, 2008 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Pearl was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Gray, Iowa. She attended rural schools near Gray and the graduated from the Gray High School with the Class of 1937. Pearl attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she earned her teaching certificate. She then taught in rural schools in Audubon County.
On May 17, 1940 she was united in marriage to Raymond William Alt in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in Fiscus, Iowa where Pearl was a homemaker. They then farmed in Guthrie County and Audubon County until they retired in 1978 and moved into Audubon. Pearl worked several jobs and also taught pre-school at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon. They moved to the Friendship Village in Audubon in August of 1999. Ray died May 17, 2002. Pearl moved into the Friendship Home in March of 2002.
Pearl was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon. She was an active member of the Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School. She also was on the board at Audubon Congregate Meals.
Preceding her in death were her husband Raymond W. Alt; her parents; her sisters and brothers: Elsie and Ross Pollock; Ethel Elsberry; Leonard and Hulda Elsberry; Gladys and R. Donald Aikman; Virgil and Selma Elsberry; and Homer Elsberry; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ruth and Leonard Kness; Belmont Byriel; and H.P Jorgensen, Jr.
Survivors include her children: Eugene and wife Sally Alt; Marjorie and husband Darrell Rudolph, all of Audubon, IA; and Dr. David Alt of Miami, FL; her grandchildren: Scott and Melinda Alt of Audubon; Anthony and Darci Alt of Redfield, IA; Jody Rudolph of Anita, IA; Shelley and Barry Farmer of Ankeny, IA; Nichole and Dr. Douglas Olsen of Audubon; Abigail and Scott Larsen of Audubon; her great-grandchildren: Garret and Austin Alt of Slater, IA; Aiden and Evan Alt of Audubon; Cooper and Kinsey Alt of Redfield; Claire, Marcus, and Aaron Olsen; Gavin Larsen, all of Audubon; her sister: Rosa and Kenneth Christensen of Audubon; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Frances Elsberry of Greenville, SC; Marie Byriel of Audubon; Robert Alt of Audubon; John Alt of Kearney, MO; Jane Jorgensen of Audubon; Neoma and Phil Thomas of Ames, IA; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Thursday evening at 6:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
