Peggy Louise Jensen

Peggy Louise Jensen, the daughter of Junior and Elaine (Christiansen) Jensen, was born April 6, 1950, in Carroll, Iowa and died April 20, 2016, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 66 years and 14 days.
Peggy was baptized and confirmed at the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa.
She attended Gray Consolidated Schools then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1968. Peggy moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she was employed by Mutual of Omaha.
In 1970 she was united in marriage to Milton (Jim) Jenkins. They were blessed with one son Bret. They lived in Omaha before moving to Uehling, Nebraska. Peggy worked at a ceramic shop and also baby sat for several families. They moved to Oakland, Nebraska where Peggy was employed as a waitress and cook at the Corner Café and Hot Stuff Pizza. Later she was the Dietician for the local nursing home and then purchased Leah’s Café. Peggy owned and operated Peg’s Diner for many years and then sold it and retired due to her failing health. In 2008 Peggy moved back to Iowa and made her home in Audubon.
Peggy was a member of the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa and was a member of the Gray Community Betterment Corporation. She loved to cook and play with her dogs. She liked to go camping and fishing. Peggy spent many hours communicating on facebook and using her I-pad. She enjoyed visiting with her family and many friends but cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents; and her aunts and uncles Larry Jensen, Bud Newman, Dale Christiansen, Frances and husband Hank Kissler, Sid and wife Delores Christiansen, Irwin and wife Loretta Christiansen, Virginia and husband Andy Anderson, and Kenneth Jensen.
Survivors include her son Bret and wife Marcy Jenkins of Tulare, California; her grandchildren Hunter Jenkins, Kamryn Hernandez and Kaden Hernandez all of Tulare; her brother and sisters Lana Wiges of Hamlin, Iowa, Julie and husband Kent Hansen of Atlantic, Iowa, Brenda and husband Lony Haubrich of Manning, Iowa, and Lony and wife Teresa Jensen of Casey, Iowa; her aunts and uncles Dean and wife Shirley Jensen of Bethel, Missouri, Ruth Jensen of Imperial, Missouri, Leona Newman of Denver, Colorado, and Marjorie Christiansen of San Antonio, Texas; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Lori Shannon on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at the Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa. Inurnment will be in the Gray Cemetery west of Gray, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be her grandchildren Hunter Jenkins, Kamryn Hernandez and Kaden Hernandez. The family will meet with friends Friday evening, April 29, 2016, from 5:00 P.M until 8 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral home in Audubon, Iowa.
