Peggy Lucille Zajicek

Alice Peggy Lucille Zajicek, the daughter of Roy and Nina Rundle Winget, was born July 9, 1923, at her parents home in Wentworth, South Dakota and died May 5, 2010, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 26 days.
Peggy was baptized in 1926 and confirmed in 1935 at the Presbyterian Church in Brookings, South Dakota. She attended Madison Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1941 in Madison, South Dakota.
On January 24, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clarence Zajicek in Denver, Colorado. Following World War II, Clarence was honorably discharged from the U.S Army Air Corps. They moved to Brookings, SDand Clarence attended South Dakota State College where he studied and became a Pharmacist. During this time Peggy, worked and was a home maker. They moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa, Waterloo, Iowa, and Winterset, Iowa before settling in Audubon in 1960. While living in Audubon, Peggy, was a sales clerk at the Duet Shop, then the Federated Store, and Raub Jewelry. Later, she helped at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon for several years. Clarence died on July 20, 1990. Peggy worked at the Consignment Shop until she retired. Peggy enjoyed her home and then moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in October of 2004.
Peggy had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon since January 3, 1962 and was an active member of the Mariners. She also served as a Blue Bird Leader.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband Clarence: were her sons: Joseph Zajicek and a stillborn son Keith Zajicek; her parents; and her sisters: Lois and husband Roy Shields, and Helen and husband Jean Prather.
Survivors include her children: Sandee and husband Keith Ratcliff of Billings, Montana, Tom and wife Natalie Zajicek of Des Moines, Iowa, Lynn and wife Julie Zajicek of Panora, Iowa, Dr. Linda and husband Dr. Bob Colter of Brazil, Indiana; her grandchildren: Bryan and wife Lynn Ratcliff of Billings, Hannah and Aidan Zajicek both of Des Moines, Michael Dent of Kansas City, Missouri, Grant Zajicek of Panora, Celia and Lily Colter both of Brazil, and Jenny Zajicek and Brent Zajicek; her great grandchildren: Maranda and Parker Ratcliff both of Billings; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Service:
The Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be conducted by Pastor Kay E. Steddom on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
