Phyllis Mary Krogh, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Hicks Simonsen, was born May 18, 1920, at her parents’ home in Round Bottom, Colorado, and died August 10, 2012, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Phyllis was confirmed as an adult at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She attended the Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1938. Phyllis moved to Denver, Colorado where she attended a business school. After a brief period of employment, she returned to Exira and was employed for a short time by Elmer G. Carlson. On February 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Emmert Andrew Krogh by the Methodist Pastor on the Audubon County border. Two children Nadine and Larry were born to this union. They farmed east of Brayton for a short period of time. Then in 1942 they purchased a farm in Greeley Township northeast of Exira. Phyllis helped Emmert operate the farm. She enjoyed gardening and always had a large vegetable garden. They farmed growing grain and raising livestock for almost 45 years. In 1987 they retired from farming and moved into Exira, later selling the farm. Before and during retirement they enjoyed driving to California and visiting relatives. Emmert died on October 22, 2006. Phyllis has continued living in their home. Phyllis was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church. She also was a member of several neighborhood social clubs. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Emmert A. Krogh; her son Larry Krogh; her parents; her brother Lloyd and wife Virginia Simonsen; her sisters-in-law Norma Madsen and Annis and husband Floyd Zinke; her brother-in-law Magner Krogh; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Chris and Sena Krogh. Survivors include her daughter Nadine and husband Darvin Jorgensen of Exira, Iowa; her grandchildren Sherri Jorgensen of Exira, Darcie Cates of Omaha, Nebraska, Angela Olsen of Webster City, Iowa, and Mary Jo and husband Tom Sankot of Ames, Iowa; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her brother-in-law Earnest Madsen of Exira; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa.
