Ramona Darlene (Jorgensen) Camp, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at the Cass County Medical Center in Atlantic, Iowa.
Ramona was born on October 21, 1934, the eldest daughter of H. Edvald and Gladys (Walters) Jorgensen in Audubon, Iowa. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1953 and worked in the Iowa State University Extension Office in Audubon. She married Jesse “Jack” Camp on October 10, 1954. They lived in Audubon until May 1955. At that time, the couple moved to Atlantic.
As they started their family, Ramona stayed at home to raise their four children. She babysat four other children until all the children began school. She then began her out of home work careers at a variety of businesses around Atlantic, including Brinks Flower Shop and Atlantic Upholstery.
Ramona was very active and devoted to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a quiet but constant presence in the church until the time of her death. She devoted her time to the Cass County Medical Center Auxiliary and also delivered Meal on Wheels. She sewed, crocheted and quilted MANY items for the Hospital Auxiliary and church donations that are now used locally and around the world.
She and Jack enjoyed many years in the Atlantic Whirl-A-Ways Square Dance Club, camping, raising chickens, gardening, spending time with friends and family.
Ramona is survived by her children, Jeff (Karen) Camp of Camano Island, Washington; Barb (Craig) Jackson of Grimes, Iowa; Leland (Luann) Camp of Waverly, Iowa; and Janeen (Ron) Dvorak of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandchildren Spencer (Mireille) Camp, Carissa Camp (David Oh), Tyler Camp, Alison (Chris) Ruttencutter, Robin (Johan) Frafjord, Ryan (Sabrina) Kurka, Lee (Kathy) Kurka, Mallory (Dylan) Knudsen, Courtney (Nick) Turner and Rachael (Cole) Wojtalewicz. Thirteen great-grandchildren, brother, Floyd Jorgensen of Smyrna, Tennessee; sister, Brenda McCullough of Atlantic, Iowa and seven nieces and nephews.
Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law H. Raymond and Ruth (Eppelsheimer) Camp, brothers-in-law Robert Camp, Doug McCullough.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Refreshments will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Private burial will be at Southlawn Memory Gardens in Atlantic.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and can be sent in care of Schmidt Family Funeral Home to P.O. Box 523 Atlantic, Iowa 50022.
