Randal Scott Lauritsen, the son of Earl P. and Ella C. (Puck) Lauritsen, was born March 12, 1964, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa and died March 11, 2013, at his parents’ farm in rural Audubon County, Iowa at the age of 48 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Randal was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He attended the Exira Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1982. He then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, Iowa where he received a degree in Farm Management in 1984. Randal returned to the Exira area where he helped operate the family farm with his father. On June 22, 2002, he was united in marriage to Dodi Hatfield at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Randal continued to farm with his father where they raised cattle and grew grain. Later they took a portion of the land and started an organic farm. Randal was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. He was a 4-H leader, a member of the Audubon County Fair Board, and was a flagger for the figure-8 races at the Audubon Fair Grounds. He was involved with Operation T-Bone, a member of the Audubon County Cattlemen’s Association, and the Audubon County Pork Producers. Randal enjoyed spending time with his family especially helping his boys with their projects, teaching them farming, and taking them fishing. He enjoyed going to auctions but next to his family Randal’s greatest joy was farming. Randal was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Ella Lauritsen; his father-in-law Bruce Bailey; his uncles Edward Lauritsen, Emmert Lauritsen, Steve Ernst, Daniel “Zag” Pennel; his aunt Doris Lauritsen; and his cousin Tim Lauritsen. Survivors include his wife Dodi Lauritsen of Exira, Iowa; his sons: Luke, R.J., and Jake Lauritsen all of Exira; his brother Michael and wife Elizabeth Lauritsen of Exira; his nephews: Chance and Gage Lauritsen both of Exira; his mother-in-law Helen Baily of Audubon, Iowa; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Friday evening, March 15, 2013, at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
