Rena Faga

Rena Irene Faga, 100, of Atlantic, Iowa, and formerly of Adair, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

She was born March 28, 1914, to Jesse and Hattie (Linkey) Brotherton in Elleston, Iowa. Rena grew up in rural Iowa. In her early 20s she was united in marriage to Laverne Lorenzen. They had one son, Monte, before Laverne died. On June 23, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Faga, who had two children, Danny and Sylvia.

Rena loved her family and was a lifelong devoted mother and homemaker. She was the best cook. Rena was also very attached to her church and church friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards, dice and cribbage. She was an active church member and belonged to the LWML at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair.

She is survived by her son, Monte (Cyndi) Lorenzen of Clive, Iowa; her daughter, Sylvia (Everett) Plowman of Adair, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kay Faga of Ames, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Hattie Brotherton; two husbands, Laverne Lorenzen and John Faga; her son, Danny Faga; two grandchildren; one brother and one sister.

Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair, IA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., also in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adair.

Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, northwest of Adair, following the services. The family invites everyone to a luncheon at the church following the burial.
