Rex Wesack, 64, of Adair, Iowa, passed away December 3, 2007, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Merle Rex Wesack was born on May 11, 1943, in Adair, Iowa, the son of Merle William and Elnora (Tibben) Wesack.
He grew up in Adair and graduated from Adair High School in 1961. Rex then attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri, and graduated with his bachelor's degree. He taught History classes at East Monona Schools in Moorhead, Iowa, for 14 years. In 1979, Rex moved to Exira, Iowa, and began farming. He also sold feed and worked for Schafer Systems in Adair until his health failed.
Rex was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Adair. He loved to go fishing with his son. Spending time with his family and friends, especially playing cards with them, was a great joy to him.
Rex is survived by his son, Greg Wesack of Kansas City, Missouri; daughters, Lori Kommes of Urbandale, Iowa, and Michelle Kommes of Lanai City, Hawaii; lifetime friend, Sheryl Dolan of Exira, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Karen Wesack of Ankeny, Iowa, and Karen Wesack of Amana, Iowa; nieces, Kim Wesack of Ankeny, Iowa, and Nicole (Russ) Williams of Millersburg, Iowa; nephews, Kevin (Lori) Wesack of Ankeny, Iowa, Keith (Becky) Wesack of Ankeny, Iowa, and Nathan Wesack of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Elnora Wesack; brothers, Del and Steve Wesack; and nephew, Chad Wesack.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa, with the Reverend Ray Holmquist officiating.
Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, north of Adair. Following services at the cemetery the family invites you to join them for lunch in the church fellowship hall.
Viewing will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2007, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hockenberry-Mullen Funeral Home in Adair.
The family is requesting memorials to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
