RICK L. KLEVER
Rick L. Klever, 41, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Rick Lee Klever was born November 22, 1964, at the Audubon County Hospital in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Robert L. Klever and Madeline M. (Miller) Pedersen.
He lived on the family farm in Guthrie County, Iowa, until moving to Atlantic in 1971.
After high school graduation, Rick attended mechanics school in Des Moines, Iowa, and then worked as a mechanic in Texas for several years before returning to Atlantic.
On November 9, 1991, Rick married Marsha Petty at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
He had worked for the Atlantic Bottling Company, Skyjack, and for the past 8 years at Glacier, all in Atlantic.
Rick's lifelong passion, was working on engines and cars. At age eight, he successfully completely overhauled a lawnmower engine. Rick also loved good food!
Rick is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert and Judy Klever of Guthrie Center, Iowa; his mother and stepfather, Madeline and Gilbert Pedersen of Atlantic, Iowa; three brothers, Jeff Klever of Atlantic, Iowa, Jerry Klever and his wife, Kim of Cameron, Missouri, and David Pedersen of Atlantic, Iowa; one stepsister, Tammy Porto and her husband Joe, of Inver Heights Grove, Minnesota; a stepbrother, Lance Farrell and his wife, Laurel of West Des Moines, Iowa; his former wife, Marsha Petty of Atlantic, Iowa; and his special aunt, Delores Rudolph (with many thanks) of Indianola, Iowa.
Also surviving are 2 aunts and 1 uncle, Howard and Donna Klever of Columbia City, Oregon, and Joan Anderson of Gothenburg, Nebraska; his nieces and nephews, Brittany, Bethany, Andrew, and Blake; as well as four stepsisters, Diane Semler and her husband, Duane of Berea, Kentucky, Donna Sebert and her husband, Jerry of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Linda Pedersen of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Wanda Simchuk and her husband, Todd of Shawnee, Kansas.
Rick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Klever and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Gladys Miller.
Funeral services will be held on his birthday, Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, with the Reverend Ken Davidson officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday with the family present to greet their friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., that evening at Hockenberry Family Care.
A prayer service is also being held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Committal services and interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa, followed by fellowship and lunch in the Fellowship Hall at Zion Lutheran Church.
The family is requesting that memorials go to the American Cancer Society in Rick's memory.
