Robert Artlip

Robert "Bob" Artlip, 72, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, after a brief illness.

Robert Glen Artlip was born on July 20, 1936, in Elliott, Iowa, the son of Delbert and Doris Artlip.

On December 17, 1956, he married the love of his life, Sharen Cable, at the Christian Church in Griswold, Iowa.

Bob owned R.G. Artlip Steel and Metal in Elliott and also farmed for many years. His excellent welding skills were well known throughout the area. Bob worked hard all of his life to provide for his family.

In his younger years Bob was an avid trap shooter, bringing home numerous trophies from various trap shooting events. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his two daughters, Amy Artlip of Atlantic, Iowa, and Shell York of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren, Brooke Dreager and her husband, Ryan of Atlantic, Iowa, and Bethany Nichols and her husband, Brett of Lewis, Iowa; 2 great-grandchildren whom he adored, Ella-Lee Arlene Nichols, 9 months, and Dylen Lee Dreager, 6 months. Bob also left behind a very special niece, Kay Keeton of Elliott, Iowa.

Bob is also survived by one brother, Charles Artlip; 3 sisters, Edie Allen, Maree Finchem and Betty Lawson; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Doris Artlip; his wife, Sharen Artlip; brother, Dean Artlip; and a sister in infancy, Faye Artlip.

Respecting Bob's request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
