Robert Peter Bruch, the son of Arthur Sr. and Regina (Grossman) Bruch, was born February 9, 1942, in Carroll, Iowa and died March 24, 2013, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 71 years, 1 months and 15 days. Robert was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa. Robert attended St. John’s school in Arcadia and graduated from Kuemper High School with the Class of 1959. After graduating Robert was employed at the Arcadia CO-OP as a carpenter, helping construct many new homes and farm buildings in the Arcadia area. On January 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Lois Kay Schultes at the Sacred Heart Church in Templeton, Iowa. Three sons: Michael, Brian, and Randy were born to this union. Robert and Lois started farming south of Templeton. In 1969, Robert and Lois started a farming partnership with Frank and Mary Ann Irlmeier and moved northwest of Gray, Iowa. In 1976, Robert and Lois purchased their farm and moved south of Gray, where they raised crops, livestock, and had a trucking business. Robert thoroughly enjoyed farming with his three sons and never officially retired. Robert was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, in which he served on the parish council. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus of Audubon/Exira. He was a past member of the Gray Fire Department and Gray Commercial Club. He was a present member of the Audubon T-Bone Committee. Robert enjoyed his grandchildren and their many activities. Restoring classic farm tractors and helping his sons and grandchildren with shop and building projects was a passion of his. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Lois Bruch in 2010; his parents Arthur Sr. and Regina Bruch; his brother and sister-in-law Paul and Darlene Bruch; and his father-in-law John I. Schultes. Robert is survived by his sons: Mike and wife Becky Bruch, Brian and wife Nancy Bruch, Randy and wife Annette Bruch all of rural Audubon; his grandchildren: Katie and husband Daniel Bierbrodt, Nicole, Diana, Stacey, Dustin, Cole, Cody, Abby Bruch and his extraordinary companion Karen Vennink; his brothers and sisters: Anita and husband Cyril Venner, Carol and husband Jim Starman, Leo and wife Betty Bruch, Arthur Jr. (Bud) and wife Rita Bruch, Marvin and wife Rita Bruch; his mother-in-law Loretta Schultes; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marilyn and husband Dennis Vonnahme; Leroy and wife Virginia Schultes, Larry and wife Pat Schultes, Marvin and wife Delores Schultes many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.
Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. with a rosary at 4:00 PM. And a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M .at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Service:
The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa.
