Robert Carleton Rumple was born December 8, 1934, in Casey, Iowa, the son of Clarence Dale and Blanche Marguerite (Long) Rumple and passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010, in Duncan, Oklahoma, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 25 days.
He lived in Casey most of his life, graduating from Casey High School and attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
On March 27, 1955, he was married to Ilah Faye Kingery in the Canby Friends Church in Canby, Iowa. The couple lived on the family farm from 1956 until 1982, when they moved to their current home where he farmed several years with his son Brian.
Although farming was his life's work, he was also employed as the secretary of the Casey Mutual Telephone Company for 45 years from 1963 to 2008, as well as being a seed corn salesman.
He was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He held many different offices in the church. He was also active as a member of the Lions Club and Worshipful Master of the Purity Lodge #283 for 2 years, 1983 & 1993. He also belonged to the Casey Order of Eastern Star being Worthy Patron for 12 years, the Shriners, and worked for the ASCS for over 25 years, later being an ASCS County Committee chairman for 10 years. Robert and Ilah enjoyed over 50 years as part of the Pinnocle Club and were charter members of the 5x80 Country Club.
Robert was a family man who cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, whether it was traveling with Ilah, watching an Iowa State game with his sons or playing baseball with his grandchildren. He always made the time to go in town to have coffee at the K C Café or stop at the elevator for the latest news. He enjoyed all sports; however, baseball had a special place in his heart.
