Robert "Bob" Lawrence Schulze
June 23, 1966 - August 30, 2024
Bob Schulze, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack on August 30, 2024. Born in Huntington, Long Island, New York, Bob moved to California at the age of three, where he spent the majority of his life, including Garden Grove, and San Diego. In 2023, Bob relocated to Audubon, Iowa, to begin a new chapter of life.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1984 to 1987 and dedicated over 30 years to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which he recently retired from. He was passionate about keeping his country safe and prosperous, serving both at home and abroad.
Bob’s true passions extended beyond his professional career. He was a gifted singer and actor, with a love for the stage and making people laugh. His joy for entertaining and bringing smiles to others was a gift he shared with all. He had a larger than life personality that drew people in with laughter.
A devoted Christian, Bob was active in his faith community, singing in the choir and serving on the worship team at Living Spring Christian Fellowship in Garden Grove, and Sonrise Community Church in Santee, for many years. He was generous with his time, talent, and resources, always helping others and making everyone feel better simply by being present.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Amy; his children, Josiah and Ameliah; his daughter Candice and her husband Brandon, three grandchildren: Jason, Carter, and Gracie Lynn. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth, and his two brothers, Rich and Randy. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Bill” Schulze.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Sonrise Community Church, 8805 N. Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA, on October 26, 2024, at 3:00 PM.
A second memorial service will be held in Audubon, Iowa, at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Eternity Church in Audubon, IA, with Gavin King officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to COPLINE, a 24/7 confidential crisis hotline that supports active and retired law enforcement officers and their loved ones. Copline provides culturally competent care for officers dealing with stress or mental health challenges, whether they are facing a tough day or a full-blown crisis. Although Bob died of natural causes, he was deeply passionate about officer wellness and supporting coworkers vulnerable to the emotional toll of the job. He would be honored to know that in his memory agents in crisis and in need of support can get help. Donations can be made online at www.copline.org or by check to:
