Robert A. Wood, 63, died on Friday, February 19, 2010, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, after a nine year battle with cancer.
He was born January 16, 1947, in Adair, Iowa, to Bernard an Adabelle Wood. He was a 1965 graduate of Atlantic High School and 1969 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. He moved to Walnut, Iowa, in 1975 and fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a farmer. He also sold Lester Buildings and owned Bob Wood Sales, Inc.
Bob is survived by his wife Donna, his brothers and their wives, Thomas and Cheri Wood of Gilbert, AZ, and Mark and Andrea Wood of Powell, OH, his children and their spouses Aaron and Sylvia Wood of New York, NY, Scott and Sarah Logan of Maple Grove, MN, and Jeffrey and Rebecca Swartz of Lancaster, PA, his three grandchildren Campbell, Peyton, and Luke Logan and many nieces and nephews.
Bob loved the Lord, had a strong faith and was a longtime member of St. Patrick Church in Walnut, IA. He loved spending time with family and friends, farming, football and losing friendly wagers for breakfast. He touched many people throughout his life with his outgoing personality, sense of humor and generosity. Bob was quick with a joke and always had a story to tell.
A funeral will be held Monday, February 22, at 10:30 a.m., at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Myrtue Medical Center Home Care and Hospice at 1213 Garfield Ave., Harlan, IA 51537.
