Rodney Rhodes

Rodney P. Rhodes, 59, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Rodney Paul Rhodes was born January 11, 1954, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Robert L. and Colleen M. (Hoffman) Rhodes. He lived in Atlantic his whole life attending school there and graduating from the Atlantic High School. On July 3, 1974, he married Lynda Lou Ritter at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, of which he was a life-long member.

His career spanned many years at American Building, Atlantic Bottling and Hoffman Manufacturing. Rod was an outdoor enthusiast respecting nature and the ability it offered him to hunt and explore for arrowheads and Indian artifacts. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially being a little league coach. His greatest love was that of his daughters, grandchildren and family.

Preceding Rod in death were his father, Robert Rhodes and Lynda Rhodes.

Surviving Rod are his mother, Colleen (Coke) Rhodes of Atlantic, IA; daughters, Nicole Rhodes of Atlantic, IA, Brooke Rhodes (Bryan Hoegh) of Lewis, IA and Amber Rhodes (David Williams) of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Ryder Burk and Matalynn Harter both of Atlantic, IA; sister, Jocelyn (Michael) Balch of Atlantic, IA; nephews, Jason Humphrey of Coralville, IA and Shane Balch of Stockdale, TX; and nieces, Melissa Balch of Atlantic, IA and Stephanie Holley of Bridgeport, TX.

Visitation for Rod will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013, also at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
