Rodney D. Wester, 48, of Anita, Iowa, and formerly of Atlantic, passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Rodney Dale Wester was born November 29, 1959, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Eric Emerson and Gladys J. (Christensen) Wester.
He was raised in Atlantic and attended school in the Atlantic School System.
Rodney lived in Arlington Texas from 1984 until 2000. He then returned to Iowa and had lived in Elk Horn, Brayton and finally Anita.
On Halloween day of 2002, Rodney married Ruth E. Foland at the Audubon County Court House.
While living in Texas, he worked in a card factory. While residing in Atlantic, Rodney was employed by Oakland Foods. After moving to Anita, he worked as an Initial Inspector at the Cross Dillon Tire Company in Anita.
Rodney was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.
He was a big fan of car racing, the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Ruth Wester of Anita, Iowa; his four sons, Josh Larsen and his wife, Mary of Atlantic, Iowa, Trinity Scheibel and his wife, Nancy of Alvarado, Texas, Terry Scheibel of Arlington, Texas and Trison Scheibel of Seattle, Washington; his mother, Gladys Thomas and her husband, Jim of Atlantic, Iowa; two sisters, Linda Fay and her husband, Brett of Lewis, Iowa and Brenda Buboltz of Atlantic, Iowa; four grandchildren, Leah and Samuel Larsen, both of Atlantic, Iowa, Liya and Christian Scheibel of Alvarado, Texas; two uncles, Kenneth Wester and his friend Betty Brake of Atlantic, Iowa and Roger Christensen and his wife, Mary of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He is also survived by his special friends, Tracey and Jeremy Lett and family of Anita, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eric E. Wester; his maternal and paternal grandparents; a niece, Ashley Fay and a nephew, Brian Claussen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008, in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic with the Reverend Gary DeGeest of the Atlantic United Methodist Church officiating. A fellowship and lunch will be held in Hockenberry's Community Room, following the service.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday evening, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberrys.
Committal services and interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Iowa after the luncheon.
