Roger L. Christensen, 61, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at his home on Monday, January 11, 2010.

Roger Lean Christensen was born June 22, 1948, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Alfred Lean and Rosie Olive (Harmsen) Christensen.
He attended school in Atlantic graduating from the Atlantic High School. After his first son was born he moved to Washington and lived there until 1984. He then moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, and in 1996 moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he has since resided.

He married Mary Ann Koehn July 11, 1986, in Yankton, South Dakota.

Roger worked for Tyson/IBP for 18 years and was a maintenance supervisor for Oakland Foods for 2 years.
Roger was a big Nebraska Husker and Seattle Sea Hawks football fan. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats. He enjoyed country music and learned to love Elvis. He was a good loving husband and father.

Surviving Roger are his wife, Mary Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his daughter, Jamie Christensen of Port Orchard, WA; his sons, Dan and Brian Christensen both of Port Orchard, WA; his step-sons, Brad and Greg Roenfeldt both of Omaha, NE; his step-daughter, Andrea Tunison of Stanton, NE; grandchildren, James Lemon and Thomas Rowe of Port Orchard, WA, Alex Christensen of Belfair, WA, Brittani Christensen of Silverdale, WA and Samantha Christensen of Tacoma, WA; his step-granddaughter, Aricka Divis; and his sister, Gladys (Jim) Thomas of Atlantic, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rosie Christensen; his step-father, Bob Bietz; and his nephew, Rodney Wester.

A memorial service has been set for 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.
