Roger Lee Fett

November 30, 1943 — February 18, 2011

Roger Lee Fett, the son of Kenneth Orville and Elnora Grace Duvall Fett, was born November 30, 1943, in Audubon, Iowa and died February 18, 2011, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon at the age of 67 years, 2 months, and 18 days.
Roger was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. He attended rural schools in Guthrie County, Iowa and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1962. Roger attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming for one year then transferred to Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.
On December 19, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sharolyn Suhr at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Emerson, Nebraska. Four children Pamela, Brian, Shari Jo, and Becky were born to this union.
Roger continued his college education graduating in 1968 with a Bachelors Degree in Education specializing in business and physical education. They moved to Moville, Iowa where Roger taught high school business, physical education and coached wrestling for three years. They moved to Guthrie County and Roger helped operate the family farm where they grew grain and raised livestock. In 1984, Roger began employment with West Central Cooperative where he had continued to work as a feed specialist for the past twenty five years.
Roger was an active member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon. He served in numerous leadership positions and on various committees. He was a past member and served on the board of directors of The Friendship Home, a board member of the Audubon Coop, the Guthrie County Beef Producers, and Pork Producers. He also had been a member of the Guthrie County Extension and was a Union Township Trustee. Roger enjoyed all types of sports, but his favorite was wrestling. Since high school and college he has continued to be actively involved in wrestling. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was an amateur carpenter and enjoyed woodworking but most of all he loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his father Kenneth Fett and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Elmer and Leona Suhr.
Survivors include his wife Sharolyn Suhr Fett of Guthrie Center, Iowa; his children: Pamela and husband Brian Brodd of Fremont, Nebraska; Brian and David Fett-Jones of Ankeny, Iowa; Shari Jo Fett of Ankeny; Becky and husband Anibal Velarde of Lonsdale, Minnesota; his mother Elnora Fett of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren: Kristen, Curtis and Kenan Brodd all of Fremont; elijah and caden fett-jones both of Ankeny; Lucas, Isaiah, Josiah and Olivia Velarde all of Lonsdale; his brothers: Arnie and wife Linda Fett of Hudson, Wisconsin; Marcel and wife Connie Fett of Audubon; Russell Fett and wife Dr. Cindy Owen of Poway, California; his brothers-in-law Roger and wife Lynda Suhr, Richard and wife Bonny Suhr, and Duane (Butch) and wife Nancy Suhr all of Pender, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Union Township Cemetery in Guthrie County, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Doug Opp on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.
