Ron Lynn Petersen, the son of Kenneth and Nancy (Markley) Petersen was born May 26, 1959, and died April 7, 2018, at his home in Exira, Iowa at the age of 58 years, 10 months, and 11 days.
Ron attended the Audubon Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1977. From the age of 16, Ron worked with his father as a stone mason for Schmidt Masonry in Audubon. Following graduation Ron became a full time worker for Schmidt Masonry.
On August 12, 1988, he was united in marriage to Sherri Wilkerson at the Legion Park in Audubon, Iowa. Over the years they were blessed with two children Heather and Seth. Ron continued to work for Schmidt Masonry until they closed and then worked for Henningsen’s Construction in Atlantic, Iowa for several years. Ron worked at McLaughlin Construction for a while then has partnered with Nate Janssen for the past several years.
Ron was an amazing artist. He could make a beautiful scene on almost anything from an etch-a-sketch to the wonderful pencil drawings that he produced. He loved playing any type of card game, but most of all he enjoyed “hanging” with the grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his father Kenneth Petersen.
Survivors include his children Heather Petersen of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Seth and wife Brooke Petersen of Audubon, Iowa; his step-son Blake and wife Megan Wilkerson of, Exira, Iowa; his grandchildren Rylan Stephens of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Talan, Tayvyn, and Tayzlee Petersen all of Audubon, Iowa; his step-grandson James Wilkerson of Exira, Iowa; his mother Nancy and husband Dallas Munch of Exira, Iowa; brothers and sisters Rick and wife Deb Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa, Rhonda and husband David Wilkerson of Exira, Iowa, Dennis and wife Sue Petersen of Audubon, Iowa, and Toni and husband Kent Schlater of Exira, Iowa; the mother of his children Sherri Wilkerson-Petersen of Brayton, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Memorial Building on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. for fellowship and refreshments with the family. Distribution of the cremains will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa at a later date.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Audubon Memorial Building in Audubon, Iowa. This will be a time to meet with the family for fellowship and refreshments.
