Rosa Elizabeth Christensen

April 27, 1921 — February 15, 2010

Rosa Elizabeth Christensen, the daughter of Homer Floyd and Metta Mary Petersen Elsberry, was born April 27, 1921, at her parents home west of Audubon, Iowa and died February 15, 2010, at the Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Rosa was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, near Gray, Iowa. She attended rural schools near Gray then worked as a housekeeper for several families. Rosa moved to Manning, Iowa and lived with her sister Ethel. Rosa was employed at Priebe and Sons Egg Processing Company for several years. In the early 1950s, Rosa moved into Audubon and became an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She worked as an operator in both Audubon and Atlantic, Iowa.
On August 2, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kenneth S. Christensen at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon. They operated their farm west of Audubon for many years. In 1975 they retired from farming and moved into Audubon. During her retirement, Rosa spent many hours volunteering at the Friendship Home in Audubon. Rosa enjoyed her home then later moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon on June 15, 2007. Rosa has been a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
Preceding her in death was her son-in-law: Greg Leppert; her granddaughter: Danielle Leppert; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Elsie and husband Ross Pollock, Ethel Elsberry, Leonard and wife Hulda Elsberry, Gladys and R. Donald Aikman, Virgil and wife Selma Elsberry, Homer Elsberry and Pearl and husband Raymond Alt; her sister-in-law: Lydia and husband Leon Anderson.
Survivors include her husband: Kenneth S. Christensen of Audubon, Iowa; her daughter: Kathy Leppert of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her granddaughters: Heather Leppert of Minneapolis, and Melissa and husband Sean Niehoff of Fairfax, Virginia; her sister-in-law: Frances Elsberry of Greenville, South Carolina; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery west of Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. Friday morning until the time of the service at St Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Audubon.
