Roy Aldag

Roy Walter Aldag, 98, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2014, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic.

He was born in Wiota, Iowa, on the family farm on October 20, 1916, the son of Johann and Maria (Bannick) Aldag. Roy attended the Goldhill Country School through the 8th grade. He and his siblings helped out on the farm while growing up. Roy's parents died in the late 1960s, at which time he and his brother, John, took over the family farm and continued with its operations. John died in 1989 and left his half to Roy. Roy remained on the farm until 2004 when his health began to decline and he moved to assisted living in Atlantic.

Roy was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church south of Wiota. He was baptized and confirmed at the church as a child. Roy always had a very strong faith in Christ. He was a very gentle and loyal person, and someone who was good to everyone.

He is survived by his niece, Doris (Gary) Comes of Atlantic, IA; his two nephews, Ivan (Annette) Porter of Nixa, MO and Wayne (Carol) McCurdy of Weatherford, Texas; his cousins, other relatives and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Johann and Maria Aldag; his brother, John Aldag; his five sisters, Anna Schmedtjen, Martha Kaiser, Alma McCurdy, Marie Porter and Lillian Sisson; ten nephews and six nieces.

The family strongly requests memorials be directed to the First Lutheran Church of Wiota, Iowa, in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, with burial in the First Lutheran Cemetery south of Wiota, Iowa.

There is no scheduled visitation.
