Royce A. Rudy, 64, of Atlantic, Iowa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 30, 2016, while at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Royce Alan Rudy was born May 3, 1952, to Russell Sr. and Ruth (Johnston) Rudy in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up in rural Atlantic and attended Atlantic Community Schools with his siblings. On September 3, 1977, he married Beverly Herrick at the Assembly of God Church in Atlantic.
Throughout his years of employment he worked over 17 years for American Buildings, and over 21 years for Glacier/Mahle in Atlantic. Royce also spent many years painting with his best friend, Dan Grover, at Rudy and Grover Painting, along with many other side jobs.
Royce loved cooking and baking for his family. When the kids were younger, he helped with hogs and rabbits for 4-H and FFA. He enjoyed gardening and planting flowers along with making the yard look very good with his riding lawn mower. He also loved tractors and baling hay with his Allis-Chalmers tractor. He valued the simple things in life like fishing, going on drives with Bev, and watching NASCAR and the Minnesota Vikings on TV.
Those preceding Royce to heaven were his parents, Russell Sr. and Ruth Rudy; his parents-in-law, Eugene and Imo Jean Herrick; and his brother-in-law, Earl McClure.
Surviving and remembering him is his wife, Beverly Rudy of Atlantic, IA; daughter, Kristi (Jason) Kroeger of Atlantic, IA; son, Kyle Rudy of Boulder, CO; granddaughters, Haley Lockard of Atlantic, IA and Skylar Kroeger of Manilla, IA; twin brother, Russell Jr. (Pam) Rudy of Walnut, IA; brothers, Roger (Sue) Rudy of Atlantic, IA and Randall (Jeannie) Rudy of Anita, IA; sister, Rhonda Gallagher (Steve Nevins) of Avoca, IA; sister-in-law, Judy McClure of Atlantic, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation with family will be Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. also at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.
