Ruby Littleton

Ruby Joyce Robison was born November 29, 1929, the daughter of Byron "Bynie" William and Florence (Bailey) Robison in Wiota, Iowa, and passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Ruby was a life long resident of Anita, graduating from Anita High School. In 1946, she was married to Cecil Littleton. To this union six children were born. Ruby worked for the West Iowa Telephone Company for 13 years and then for Dr. R. F. Coatney's office for 26 years. She served on the Anita City Council for two terms and was the first female mayor, serving for eight years.

Ruby enjoyed her church, her family, reading and gardening, serving as past president of the garden club, and volunteering her time at the Anita Wellness Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Littleton; her parents, Byron and Florence Robison; her sisters, Rose Soper, Marie Huddleson and Amy Petersen; her brother, Louis Robison; her son-in-law, Rick Steffens; and her nephew, Mervin Robison.

Ruby is survived by her children, Susan (Brad) Henry of Granger, Iowa, Bill (Joan) Littleton of Parker, Colorado, Kris (Jim) Smith of Atlantic, Iowa, Byron (Susie) Littleton of Atlantic, Iowa, Mark (Darlene) Littleton of Lexington, Ohio, and Tony Littleton of Perry, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Anita Congregational United Church of Christ, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.
A luncheon will be held following the committal service.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa.
