Ruth M. Brindley, 82, a lifelong Atlantic Iowa resident, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Ruth Marie Brindley was born May 9, 1924, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Grace (Hunter) Palmer.
She graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1942 and during WWII worked for the telephone company.
On July 20, 1947, Ruth married Earl M. Brindley at her parent's home in Atlantic.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Earl Brindley of Atlantic, Iowa; her daughter, Carol Lane and her husband, Curt of Omaha, Nebraska; and her son, Tom Brindley and his wife, Karen of Edina, Minnesota. Also surviving are three grandchildren, T.J. Brindley of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Claire and Leah Brindley, both of Edina, Minnesota; her sister-in-law, Jean Gearheart of Atlantic, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Grace Palmer; a brother, John R. Palmer; two sisters, Lois Reineke and Leah Mary, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10;00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2007 in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, with the Reverend Gary DeGeest of the Atlantic First United Methodist Church officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hockenberrys. No specific family hours have been set.
Committal services and interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery with fellowship and lunch to follow in the fellowship hall of the Atlantic First United Methodist Church.
