Ruth Smith

Ruth Fay Smith, 60, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Ruth Fay Reel was born on March 11, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Frank and Rava (Hrugs) Reel.

She had lived in California for some time until moving to Atlantic in 1993.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fay also enjoyed shopping, dancing and listening to music.

Fay is survived by her daughters, Mary Mayo of Atlantic, Iowa, and Julia Anderson of Brayton, Iowa; her sons, Eugene Smith and his wife, Kathy of Sacramento, California, David Smith of Sacramento, California, and Frank Smith and his wife, Sonja of Everett, Washington; 21 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three brothers; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rava Reel; her husband, Lee Smith; her son, Christopher Smith; and her brother, Chuck Reel.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., prior to the funeral. Following the service, the family will honor Fay's wishes and cremation will take place.
