Sandra Kay Olesen

Sandra Kay Olesen, the daughter of Chester and Ruth Genevieve McVicker Christensen, was born December 27, 1952, in Audubon, Iowa and died peacefully at her home on July 9, 2008, in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 55 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
Sandy was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Audubon. She attended Audubon Community Schools, graduating with the High School Class of 1971.
On June 6, 1971 she was united in marriage to Vernon Tibben at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Three children Christopher, Jennifer and Carrie were born to this union. They lived in the Des Moines, Iowa area and she was employed as a bookkeeper and also provided child care. Sandy returned to Audubon in 1981.
On January 22, 1982, she married Dennis Earl Olesen at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Sandys family was joined with Dennis and his children Matt and Sarah. Later two children Nicole and Seth were born to this union. They farmed east of Audubon and Sandy helped farm and raise the children. Later Sandy was employed at the Friendship Home in Audubon as a Certified Nurses Aide for several years. She then was a teachers associate at the Audubon Elementary School for eight years. For the past six years she has co-owned and helped manage Audubon Real Estate with her husband Dennis.
Sandy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon where she was the Church Historian, a member of the Abigail Circle, and taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed various Bible Studies. Sandy and Dennis were foster parents for several years. Most important to her was her family especially her grandchildren who brought her great joy.
Preceding her in death were her son Christopher Shane Tibben; her mother Ruth Genevieve McVicker; her niece Alexandra Ruth Christensen and her sister-at-heart Susan Kay Suominen.
Survivors include her husband Dennis E. Olesen of Audubon, IA; her children: Matthew Noel Olesen of Harlan, IA; Sarah Ann and Stephen Asmus; Jennifer Renae Greazel; Carrie Michele and Michael Bauer; Nicole Channing and James Brown; Seth Alexander Olesen, all of Audubon; her grandchildren: Dilan, Haley Jo, and Shelby Olesen; Katelyn, Victoria, and Alexandra Asmus; Jonathan and Joey Greazel; Christopher Bauer; Gracie Kay, Jimmy, and Mollie Ann Brown; her father Chester Christensen of Audubon; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Jessie Olesen of Audubon; her brothers: David and Karla Christensen of Clive, IA; Keith and Lana Christensen; Chris and Kristy Christensen; Michael and Jamie Christensen, all of Hamlin, IA; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Sunday evening at 7:00 at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dwayne Ferguson on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
