Scott William Becker

Scott William Becker, the son of Ross and Avis (Shepperd) Becker was born on January 12, 1964, in Atlantic, Iowa. He passed away on February 1, 2025, at his home in Cumberland, Iowa at the age of 61.

Scott attended Cumberland Massena Community School, graduating with the Class of 1982. He attended DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa obtaining a certification in electronics.

After graduation, Scott moved to Florida and worked as a brick paver. He then returned to Iowa and worked with Lee Williams and Schuler Manufacturing. Later he went on to work for Wausau Homes in Corning, Iowa, till the company moved. Scott was currently employed by Schildberg Construction Company.

Scott was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan beginning at a young age thanks to his older brother Bruce. He was community minded and served on the Cumberland Telephone Board, following in his father’s footsteps. He also served on the Cumberland City Council and was a member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church. He was always a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews and attended many of their events.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Avis; brother, Bruce and sister, Donna Owen.

Left to cherish Scott’s memory is his siblings: Steven Becker of Cumberland, Iowa, Daniel Becker of Carroll, Iowa, Diane Becker of Cumberland, Iowa, Lori (Barry) Schmidt of Massena, Iowa and Amy Jo (Ron) Stepanek of Yale, Iowa; brother-in-law, Herschel Owen of Lawson, Missouri; nieces and nephews: Stacey (Stan) Rolenc, Lisa Owen, Adam Becker, Eric Owen, Ashley (Joe) Myers, Cole Schmidt, Kelsey Schmidt, Clayton (McKinze) Schmidt, Bailey (Devan) Schipper and Cody Stepanek; great nieces and nephews: Weston (Averey) Rolenc, Garrett (Anna) Rolenc, Rhenn Rolenc, Tessa Rolenc, Cameron Becker, Caden Myers, Dylan Myers, Braylon Schmidt, Brooklyn Schmidt, Teagan Peterson, Jace Hardisty, Lilly Schmidt, Kason Schmidt, Henry Schipper, Ava Schipper and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic with Pastor Casey Pelzer officiating. Burial will follow at the Atlantic Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Cumberland Community Building following the burial.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home.
