Sharlene Jo Sanny, 75, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.

Sharlene was born January 10, 1939, in Wiota, Iowa, to Floyd and Hazel (Sager) Bannick. She grew up in Wiota attending school there and graduating with the class of 1957.

On February 10, 1957, Sharlene married Donald Dean Sanny at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Wiota. The couple lived in Atlantic until 1960, then moved to Cumberland and lived there until 1970 when they moved Lewis. They lived there until entering the nursing home in Atlantic in 2007.

While living in Lewis, Sharlene was employed at Albertson's Cleaners in Atlantic. She was a member of the Junior Federated and helped with Meals on Wheels.

Softball was a favorite sport of hers and she played on the Lewis women's softball team when she was younger. She and Don loved to shop for antiques and refinish antique furniture.

Preceding Sharlene in death were her parents, Floyd and Hazel Bannick; her husband, Donald in 2010; son, Jeffery Dean in infancy; sister, Gloria Butler; brother, Gary Bannick; parents-in-law, John and Mary Sanny; sisters-in-law, Corrine, Betty, Lois, Dora, Agnes and Lila June; and brothers-in-law, Henry, Lee, Earl and Merle.

Surviving Sharlene are her children, Jody (Greg) Allumbaugh, of Walnut, IA, Greg (Kathy) Sanny of Gravette, AR, Cindy "Tink" Sanny and her special friend, Jim Kwiatkowski of Griswold, IA and Angie (Mark) Carlton of Griswold, IA; grandchildren, Emma Allumbaugh and special friend, Dan Livingston of Griswold, IA, and Ryan and McKenna Carlton; 6 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Fran Bannick of Omaha, NE, Dorothe Sanny of St. Paul, MN, and Colleen Sanny of Fremont, NE; brother-in-law, Lyle Anderson of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at the United Congregational Methodist Church in Lewis, Iowa, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Lewis, Iowa.
