Sharon Louise Johnson

Sharon Louise Johnson, the daughter of Carl and Thelma (Brewer) Gustafson, was born September 2, 1950, in Kearney, Nebraska and died October 7, 2015, at her home in Exira, Iowa at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 5 days.
Sharon attended Kearney Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1968 on May 28, 1968. While attending high school she was employed at Bico’s Italian Restaurant and Pizza Place. Sharon then went to the Kearney Beauty School and graduated on July 15, 1970, with a Degree in Cosmetology. She worked at a beauty salon in Kearney for several years before moving to Iowa in July of 1975. She received her Iowa License on August 1, 1975, and was employed by Juline Rubel at the Charm Nook.
In August of 1975, she was united in marriage to Gary Johnson at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa. Two children Julie and Nicholas were born to this union.
When not working at the beauty shop she worked part time as a waitress at the Red Barn. While working she attended college and became a Certified Nurse’s Aide. Sharon was employed at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa for a short time then transferred to the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa. She worked at the grocery store in Exira, for 3 different owners; Kendrick’s Super Value, D & D Foodtown, and Exira Foodtown. She continued to work at the grocery store until 2005 and at the Exira Care Center until 2009. She then had to retire due to her failing health.
Sharon was a member of the Exira Lutheran Church where she was baptized in December of 1976. She loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes on her fellow co-workers and telling jokes and stories to anyone who would listen. She would always strike up conversations with anyone who was within ear shot Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren telling them stories, spoiling them and sending them special care packages.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her nephew Dewayne Danielson; and her sister-in-law Ruth Danielson.
Survivors include her children; Julie Johnson of Exira, Iowa and Nicholas Johnson of Rudd, Iowa; her grandchildren Colson Johnson and Libby Johnson both of Rudd, Iowa; her brothers Delbert and wife Robin Danielson of Russellville, Arkansas and Darrell and wife Janet Gustafson of Mesa, Arizona; her nieces and nephew Lori and husband Pete Smith and family of Mesa, Arizona, Tanya and husband Jorge Gutierez and family of Sasktoon, SK Canada, Daniel and wife LeAnn Gustafson and family of Tucson, Arizona, other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Following cremation there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.
