Sharon Lea Keating was born December 27, 1938, the daughter of Charles LeRoy and Irene Ruth Keating in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away September 4, 2012, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Her father was in the military, so Sharon lived in many different states. She attended school in Texas, Virginia, South Carolina and Iowa, graduating from Anacostia High School in Washington D.C. in 1957.
On November 14, 1959, Sharon was united in marriage to Wendell Boken in West Des Moines, Iowa. The couple lived in Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Ankeny and Rock Island, Illinois, before settling in Atlantic in 1974.
Sharon met Lyle Shaver at the dialysis center in Harlan as both their spouses were receiving treatment. Wendell passed away January 15, 2000. On July 3, 2004, Sharon married Lyle at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
She was employed at the Soil Conservation Service and at Tanners, both in Atlantic. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Member, and she and Lyle delivered meals on wheels.
Sharon was a very good cook. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, cross stitch, needlepoint and reading.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Wendell Boken; her father, Charles Keating; her brother; Charles Keating Jr. and her step-father, Norman Westfall.
Surviving Sharon are her husband, Lyle Shaver, of Atlantic, Iowa; daughter, Deb Hall of Denver, Colorado; mother, Irene Westfall of Guthrie Center, Iowa; sister, Mary Kay (Don) Hamilton of Panora, Iowa; step-children, Tim (Lisa) Shaver of Winter Park, Florida, Tom Shaver of Cumberland, Iowa, Jill (Kirk) Grover of Boone, Iowa, and Teresa (Kurt) McCuen of Benson, Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 10, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
