Sherri Denney

Sherri Sue Winther was born November 3, 1958, in Anita, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford Julius and Viola (Hansen) Winther and passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at her home in Anita, Iowa.

She was a lifelong resident of Anita, graduating from the Anita High School in 1977. On April 26, 1981, Sherri married Cecil Denney at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was employed in the dietary department at Colonial Manor for 19 years.

She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, photography, sending birthday and get well cards to family, friends and her church family. Sherri also submitted the names of family and friends to KJAN Radio for the birthday drawing. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Anita.

Preceding Sherri in death are her parents, Clifford and Viola Winther; her parents-in-law, Joseph Cecil and Zetta Merle Denney; her sister-in-law in infancy, Hilda Denney; and her brother-in-law, James Maynard Larsen, who died during his service in Korea.

Surviving Sherri is her husband, Cecil Denney Sr. of Anita; her son, Cecil (Amanda) Denney Jr. of Anita; her grandchildren, Justice and Jasmine Doherty of Anita; her sisters, Marcia (Dick) Larsen of Afton, Iowa, Juliana (David) Krauth of Massena, Iowa, Cindy (Delmar) Gries of Elk Horn, Iowa, and Sondra (Vance) Griffith of Atlantic, Iowa; her brothers, David (Jane) Winther of Anita and Dan (Dana) Winther of Anita; her brothers-in-law, Norman "Red" (Ramona) Larsen of Atlantic and Raymond (Doris) Larsen of Lake View, IA; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.

Following the burial the family invites you to join them for a luncheon in the American Legion Hall in Anita.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date.
