Shirley May Law, 87, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Shirley was born May 14, 1931, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Christy and Mabel (Clemsen) Knudsen. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic and attended school in Atlantic graduating with the Atlantic High School class of 1950. She married Richard Law December 9, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Due to Richard’s career the family lived in Bellvue, NE, and Colorado Springs, CO, before returning to Atlantic for retirement. Shirley was an executive secretary in various businesses where they lived.
Shirley spent time quilting, cross stitching, knitting and sewing. Other times she planted flowers and enjoyed gardening. She loved antiques and creating items in her craft room. She was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs.
Preceding Shirley in death was her husband, Richard Law; parents, Christy and Mabel Knudsen; sisters, Geraldine Forsyth, and Ruby Knudsen in infancy; brother, Don Knudsen; and parents-in-law, Mel and Florence Law.
Surviving Shirley are her children, Mike (Judy) Law of West Des Moines, IA, Rebecca Law of Johnston, IA, and Lisa (Jeff) Schmitt of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Sam (Jenny Moore) Trojanovich of Denver, CO, Bethany Trojanovich of New York, NY, Amy (Mike) Seufert of Winterset, IA and TJ Schmitt of Des Moines, IA; great-granddaughter, Hazel Seufert of Winterset, IA; sister-in-law, Pauline Knudsen of Atlantic, IA; brother-in-law, Roger Law of Colorado Springs, CO; other relatives and friends.
Visitation with family will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., with a funeral service starting at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa. Private family burial will be held in Oakhill Cemetery in Brayton, Iowa.
