Stephen Conn

Stephen Jay Conn was born September 2, 1947, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Harold Otis and Doris Marie (Polson) Conn and passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at his daughter's home in Portsmouth, Iowa.

He grew up and attended school in Lewis, Iowa, and graduated from the Griswold High School. Steve worked as a Police Officer in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Griswold, Iowa, and drove a truck for several trucking companies, including Conn Brothers Trucking.

He was a member of the Griswold School Board for several years and also the Lewis First United Methodist Church. Steve was a member of ABATE of Iowa. He was married to Rae Ome (Lyon) Conn for 35 years.

Steve was a joker and had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed chocolate, building model cars, tinkering in his garage and riding his Harley Davidson. Steve enjoyed Sunday drives with his family, but was a terrible passenger. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Conn; his brother, Greg Conn; his grandparents, Otis and Gladys Conn and Jay and Bessie Polson.

Steve is survived by his children, Kristin (Andy) Everett of Griswold, Todd Conn of Council Bluffs, Kara (James Darrow) Conn of Atlantic and Erica (Donavon) Dontje of Portsmouth; his grandchildren, Marquel Brunk, Tyler, Thomas and Timothy Conn, Haley Hensel, Dazia Sorensen, Xavier and Aunika Darrow, Morgan and Madison Eckmann, Brendyn Conn, Avaloyn and Aniya Dontje; his sisters, Sue (Larry) Moser and Jeanne (Kim) Weddum; his brother, Gail Conn; many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Griswold, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the lunch following the memorial service.

Burial of cremated remains will be held at 12:30 p.m., at Oakwood Cemetery, Lewis.

Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
